Rebecca Newburn
Rebecca Newburn has been a math and science educator for 16 years. She started her teaching career in a nontraditional manner by joining the Peace Corps and being assigned to teach high school science and math in Fiji. After her two years of service in Fiji, she volunteered to teach in the newly formed nation of Namibia for 3 years. She taught math, science and English in the vocational high school in Ruacana, Namibia.
Since her return to the United States about 12 years ago, she has worked with a diverse student population, including a large number of ESL and resource students in an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse school in Marin County, California. She is welcoming of and enthusiastic about the Information Age and creating bridges for teachers and their students to enter this new paradigm in education and in consciousness.
She believes that the Information Age is about connectivity. Technology is one aspect of creating connections with others.
This professional blog is focused on transforming education and the lives of students and teachers by:
- providing resources on best teaching practices,
- increasing teachers’ access and comfort with integrating technology and
- discussing practical tools to raise our awareness of our connection to each other and all living beings.
There will be a variety of the tools discussed in the blog to help students and teachers consciously create the classrooms they would love to be in, including the use of the Law of Attraction and EFT.She is interested in supporting Millennials, the New Generation, by creating resources for both teachers, parents and students. Her other interests include Vedic mathematics, the ancient mathematics of India, and creating financially responsible and thoughtful students who are global citizens, mindful of their ecological footprint.
